PANAMA CITY, PANAMA (By Piero Stewart, Energy Analytics Institute, 29.Apr.2026, Words: 184) — During her visit to Carabobo state, Venezuela’s interim president Delcy Rodríguez announced reactivation of 2 vital energy projects for the central and western regions of the OPEC country.

Rodríguez noted Venezuela has managed to advance in the electricity space through its own efforts despite a US blockade.
The projects include: activation of the 600-megawatt unit at Planta Centro, an absolute priority for the government, and the 150 megawatts the Josefa Camejo plant, Rodríguez said on 29 Apr. 2026 during a broadcast on Venezuelan television. Both will contribute to stabilize the National Electric System (SEN), she said.
“I know the situation regarding electricity in the country, more than a decade of blockade where we couldn’t even go to Siemens, General Electric, or Mitsubishi to acquire a single screw,” Rodríguez said. “Solutions don’t happen overnight, but I know this year we will see results, and Carabobo state will benefit; it’s a matter of a few months.”
