MEXICO CITY, MEXICO (By Fidencio Casillas, Energy Analytics Institute, 15.Apr.2026, Words: 350) — As part of Mexico’s strategy to strengthen energy sovereignty president Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo presented the committee of scientists and specialists who will analyze the possible sustainable exploitation of natural gas reserves in unconventional deposits to reduce imports of this resource from the US.
She emphasized the committee is comprised of researchers from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), the Metropolitan Autonomous University (UAM), the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN), the Autonomous University of Nuevo León (UANL), the Autonomous University of Coahuila (UAdeC), the Mexican Institute of Water Technology (IMTA), the Mexican Petroleum Institute (IMP), the Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate Change (ICAyCC), among other institutions.
