PEMEX eyes base natgas production of 4 Bcf/d by 2030, CEO Padilla says

HOUSTON, TEXAS  (By Pietro D. Pitts, Energy Analytics Institute, 8.Apr.2026, Words: 185) — Mexico’s state-owned Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX) looks to boost its based natural gas production to around 4.049 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) by 2030, up 76% compared to 2.3 Bcf/d in 2025, according to the company’s CEO Víctor Rodríguez Padilla.

With the addition of additional conventional production as well as production from complex reservoirs, PEMEX’ total natural gas production could reach 5.871 Bcf/d by 2030, according to Padilla, speaking on 8 Apr. 2026 during his participation in the morning presser hosted by Mexico’s president Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
