SALVADOR, BRAZIL (Pedro Silva, Energy Analytics Institute, 19.Jun.2025, Words: 272) — Brazil’s Miros released its innovative oil spill detection (OSD) monitoring system, introducing a new dimension of oil spill monitoring in Brazil.
In partnership with Belga Marine, Miros enhanced its OSD system to include cutting-edge, cloud-based monitoring capabilities that are now fully operational across several production assets offshore Brazil.
This milestone was achieved through a seamless switchover from the legacy Miros system to its updated version, now deployed across multiple production assets of a major Brazilian energy company, Miros announced on 19 Jun. 2025 in an official statement.
As well as complying with stringent national guidelines, the updates to the OSD monitoring system also represent a transformative leap forward in oil spill detection and environmental stewardship, according to Miros, a leader in environmental monitoring.
By integrating Miros’ proven technology with cyber secure, real-time cloud-based data sharing, the system ensures seamless collaboration and communication among offshore operators, environmental regulators and onshore stakeholders. This innovation enhances environmental compliance and accelerates response times to potential oil spill incidents.
The introduction of cloud-powered OSD monitoring marks a new chapter for Brazil’s offshore energy industry and customer feedback has already been overwhelmingly positive. Miros looks to deliver further enhancements and opportunities to strengthen its position as a leader in environmental monitoring.
Miros’ proven IoT platform Miros Cloud, which powers the new cloud-based OSD monitoring system, has already demonstrated its effectiveness in the oil and gas, offshore operations, offshore wind and other maritime sectors. Miros boasts over 250 OSD systems deployed worldwide, the company said in the statement.
