Bolivia could default without new financing, according to president Luis Arce

HOUSTON, TEXAS (Ofelia Paredes, Energy Analytics Institute, 18.Jun.2025, Words: 249) — Bolivia, which is experiencing a deep economic crisis due to a lack of foreign currency, is at risk of defaulting on its foreign debt if it does not obtain new financing, according to Bolivia’s president Luis Arce Catacora.

“We are trying not to default. We have every intent to pay our debt, but what if we don’t have the resources?,” the Bolivian daily La Razón reported on 18 Jun. 2025 citing comments made by the leftist president during an interview with AFP at government headquarters.
