HOUSTON, TEXAS (Ian Silverman, Energy Analytics Institute, 24.Apr.2025) — Eni confirmed preliminary results at the Capricornus 1-X well in the petroleum exploration license 85 (PEL85), in Namibia’s Orange basin, which found oil.
The Capricornus 1-X well, operated by Rhino Resources, was spud on 17 Feb. 2025 using the Noble Venturer drillship. The well reached a total depth on 2 Apr. 2025 and successfully penetrated the Lower Cretaceous target. The well found 38m of net pay, with the reservoir showing good petrophysical properties and no observed water contact.
