MEXICO CITY, MEXICO (Fidencio Casillas, Energy Analytics Institute, 14.Mar.2025) — Mexico’s president Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo said she will do what suits Mexico and always for the national interest of Mexico as she seeks dialogue with the government of US president Donald Trump.
“We are going to do what suits Mexico and seek dialogue with the United States. So far — and I have to admit — that president Trump has been very respectful with [me] and Mexico. There has been a relationship of respect and dialogue, and we want it to continue like this,” Sheinbaum said on 14 Mar. 2025 during her mañanera or daily media briefing. “And, we will do everything on our part so that it continues like this, for the interest of Mexico,” she added.
Sheinbaum stressed that during the Mexico-US working dialogue tables that Mexico has continued to argue that the economies of both countries are better if they work together, since the North American region, which includes the US, Mexico and Canada, competes better against other regions of the world.
