Petrobras on Media Reports on Fuel Prices

(Energy Analytics Institute, 18.Sep.2024) — Petrobras downplayed claims in the media that it has decided to reduce fuel prices.

“Any adjustments to the prices of its products are made in the normal course of its business with no defined periodicity and, when there is a decision to change, the price list is immediately disclosed to its customers through corporate channels,” Petrobras said 18 Sep. 2024 in an official statement.

As part of its routine process, Petrobras said it monitors daily price variations in the international oil market as well as the consequences those variation may have on the Brazilian market.

Petrobras reaffirmed in the statement that any adjustments to the prices of its products, when necessary, will be made on the basis of independent technical analyses, taking into account the company’s market share and the optimized operation of its refining and logistics assets, in line with the premises of its commercial strategy.

The commercial strategy of the Brazilian oil giant allow it to practice competitive prices that are in balance with the international and domestic markets. At the same time Petrobras avoids the passing on to domestic prices of the short-term volatility of international prices and the exchange rate, providing periods of price stability for its customers.
