Venezuela and Iran to Deepen Oil and Defense Ties

(Energy Analytics Institute, 2.May.2022) — Venezuela’s Oil Minister Tareck El Aissami held a working meeting in Caracas with his Iranian counterpart Javad Owji to discuss deepening bilateral cooperation mechanisms between both countries in the oil and defense sectors.

The ministers also reviewed different opportunities for bilateral cooperation in the petrochemical sector and in the multilateral sphere with the alliances between Caracas and Tehran maintained within the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and the declaration of OPEC+ cooperation, state oil company Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) reported 2 May 2022 in an official statement.

PDVSA’s President Asdrúbal Chávez was also present during the discussions, the oil giant announced in the statement.
