NGC Inks Gas Supply Contract with TCL

Immediate Frontier

(NGC, 28.Mar.2022) — The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (NGC) signed a Gas Sales Contract (GSC) with local cement manufacturer, Trinidad Cement Limited (TCL). This agreement will govern the sale of natural gas to TCL and represents an important step forward for both companies after an extended period of negotiations. TCL has been one of NGC’s longest-standing customers for over 40 years. The conclusion of this GSC signals NGC’s commitment to the local manufacturing sector and bodes well for infrastructural development in Trinidad and Tobago and the region.

Chairman of the TCL Group, David Inglefield congratulated both teams for their efforts, diligence and negotiations in good faith, and stated, “One of the factors to achieving sustainability in this volatile economic climate is the strengthening of relationships with key suppliers.” He went on to say, “Significantly, both NGC and TCL recognised that the outcome would serve the commercial interests of all stakeholders, including the generation of foreign exchange and other economic benefits that will accrue to Trinidad and Tobago…a clear demonstration of our strong attentiveness to the construction industry and our national economy.”

NGC’s President, Mark Loquan also commented on the importance of this milestone. “Current upheavals in global supply chains underscore the importance of building local industrial capacity to meet internal market demands. We at NGC are therefore intent on securing the future of our downstream sector, through agreements such as this GSC with one of our nation’s local manufacturers. I thank the teams at TCL and NGC for their equal commitment to the process and the achievement of a favourable outcome. We look forward to nurturing this relationship to build a stronger future.”
