— Argentina’s President Alberto Fernández assumed the presidency of Celac on 7 Jan. 2022, according to reports by Argentine local media outlet TN.

Ecuador

— Ecuador continues to recuperate its oil production after resuming ops at it SOTE and OCP pipelines, which halted ops in in early Dec. 2021 due to soil erosion issues that jeopardized their activities. Over 2,200 wells have been reactivated, after being shut-in, and oil production is around 93% of what it was prior to the pipeline closures, Juan Carlos Bermeo, the head of Ecuador’s Ministry of Non-Renewable Natural Resources (MNRNR) said 7 Jan. 2022 in a Twitter post.
