(T&T Loop News, 23.Dec.2021) — Power outages experienced across the country on Wednesday were due to works by the National Gas Company (NGC).

Intermittent outages were reported across parts of South, Central, North and East Trinidad.

According to a statement from independent power producer Trinidad Generation Unlimited (TGU), a brief disruption to the gas supply during these works resulted in a loss of power generation.

TGU said, however, that the natural gas supply to TGU was efficiently restored and the disruption was resolved.

The company was then able to generate electricity to the national grid in the shortest possible timeframe.

Service was restored to most of the affected areas by 1pm yesterday.
