(Energy Analytics Institute, 12.Jul.2021) — The US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) issued general license no. 40 which allows “all transactions and activities related to the exportation or reexportation, directly or indirectly, of liquefied petroleum gas to Venezuela, involving the government of Venezuela, Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA), or any entity in which PDVSA owns, directly or indirectly, a 50 percent or greater interest,” according to details revealed 12 July 2021.
Venezuela continues to suffer from a lack of LPG supplies, a fuel used for cooking purposes in many households across the OPEC country and especially homes not connected to the gas grid. However, other issues impacting the gas grid have also impacted gas deliveries, forcing many Venezuelan citizens to rely on firewood, and in some instances, coal for cooking needs.
