(Energy Analytics Institute, 4.May.2021) — Energy briefs from the Latin America and Caribbean region including: foodstuff and petrol shortages in Cali, Colombia and Argentine entities reaching a salary agreement.

Foodstuff And Petrol Shortages In Cali

Shortages of foodstuffs and petrol have been reported in Cali, Colombia as a result of recent protests against a tax reform proposed by Colombia’s President Iván Duque, according to television reports from France 24. The reform was later scrapped by the president.

FaSiPeGyBio, Petroleum Industry Chamber Reach Salary Deal

Discussions between the Argentine Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels Trade Union Federation (FaSiPeGyBio), the Petroleum Industry Chamber and Raízen Argentina S.A.U. led to a salary agreement with refineries.

The deal implies payment of a 30% increase over the current salaries corresponding to April to be collected in mid-May, and will include adjustments to compensate for inflation last month, reportedly daily newspaper Río Negro on 4 May 2021.
