Tenaris Acquires Baker Hughes Argentina

Tenaris announced the acquisition of hydraulic fracturing, coiled tubing and wireline equipment from Baker Hughes Argentina, reported the daily newspaper Diario Petrolero.

“This acquisition will allow us to increase our participation in the market for unconventional completion services, particularly for the Vaca Muerta deposit,” the daily reported, citing comments from Tenaris Cono Sur President Javier Martínez Álvarez.

YPF Increases Fuel Prices

Argentina’s state-controlled oil giant YPF has again increased fuel prices and the accumulated rise over the past seven months is now almost 50%.

The average adjustment in the City of Buenos Aires will be 7.9% and in the rest of the country it will be 7%, according to reports in daily newspaper Clarín.

YPF has already forewarned of new increases to come in April and May.

Colombia’s Awaits Offers For Pilot Fracking Projects

Colombia’s National Hydrocarbon Agency (ANH) is awaiting offers from a handful of companies from ExxonMobil and Drummond, among others, interested in participating in potentially two or three additional pilot fracking projects in the country.

Colombia’s state owned Ecopetrol has already been selected to carry out a fracking pilot project at the so-called Kalé Project in Puerto Wilches in Santander. The project spans an area of 4.5 hectares.

Ecopetrol was awarded a Special Research Project Contract (CEPI by its Spanish acronym) by the ANH, officials with said during a recent fourth quarter 2020 conference call with investors.

Ecopetrol has designated capital expenditures of approximately $80mn for the Kalé Project between 2021-2023.

Venezuela Hit By Severe Diesel Shortage

Oil-rich Venezuela is suffering a severe shortage of diesel fuel, which is used to transport foodstuffs and other goods across the South American country.

The Venezuelan National Federation of Cattlemen (Fedenaga by its Spanish acronym) called for a special meeting of its members today to discuss the situation, which it warned impacted member’s ability to move foodstuffs from farms and other areas to consumption centers, according to reports in daily newspaper El Nacional.
