(General Command of the Colombian Military Forces, 13.Jan.2021) — Through a joint, coordinated and interagency operation conducted by the Colombian Air Force, the National Army, the National Police and the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General’s Office, it was possible to find and destroy, in a controlled manner, five illegal refineries for fuel production, which belonged to the terrorist support networks of the Juan Fernando Porras Martínez Front of the Organized Armed Group (GAO) ELN, in the village of Caño Victoria Sur, municipality of Tibú, Norte de Santander.

As a result of the operation, five pools (container for fuel storage) were seized with approximately 31,000 liters of petroleum and 1,000 of handmade gasoline. In the place there were materials used to connect the refineries.

This type of rudimentary structures cause serious damages on the environment, due to the use of chemicals that disrupt the sustainability of the ecosystem.
