ANH Readies For Second Pilot Project Round

Immediate Frontier

(Energy Analytics Institute, 10.Nov.2020) — Colombia’s National Hydrocarbons Agency will conduct a second round for the award of Special Research Project Contracts (CEPI by its Spanish acronym).

“The purpose of the projects is to be able to acquire sufficient scientific information to make decisions on the technical use of hydraulic fracturing to take advantage of the potential of the non-conventional reservoirs,” ANH President Armando Zamora Reyes said in an agency statement.

ANH, as the national agency is known, said 10 November 2020 in an official statement that companies already qualified for the round include Ecopetrol, Exxonmobil and Drummond.

The three companies can present proposals, as well as other interested parties also qualified for the round. The ANH already has a proposal from Ecopetrol, which is under evaluation.

“With this second round, the ANH seeks to award up to a maximum of four projects in order to obtain as much information as possible,” Zamora said.
