Bolivia eyes $214mn in initial IMF distribution 

BOGOTÁ, COLOMBIA (By Ana Sanches, Editores Latin Petroleum, 6.Oct.2026, Words: 147) — Bolivia eyes receipt of its first disbursement of $214mn related to an International Monetary Fund (IMF) loan by 7 Oct. 2026.

The funds will be transferred to the Central Bank of Bolivia (BCB), economy minister Christian Morales told Bolivia TV in an interview on 6 Oct.

The official explained these funds will be used to strengthen net international reserves (NIR). According to Morales, the IMF is currently finalizing the operational procedures to complete the transfer.

$1.9bn for Bolivia

On 2 Oct., the IMF executive board approved a financing agreement for $1.9bn for Bolivia under the extended fund facility (EFF), with an initial disbursement of $214mn.

The program will have a duration of 36 months.
