Rodríguez laid a wreath at the eternal flame, paid tribute to the Indian leader’s legacy, and signed the book of distinguished visitors, as part of a working agenda aimed at consolidating bilateral relations and strategic cooperation between the 2 nations.
This event seeks to strengthen relations and strategic cooperation between Venezuela and India, reaffirming the friendship and mutual respect between the 2 countries, Venezuela’s presidency said on 4 Jun. 2026 in an official statement.
Gandhi legacy
Mahatma Gandhi was an Indian lawyer, thinker, and political leader born on 2 Oct. 1869, in Porbandar (British Raj), in present-day India, and died on 30 Jan. 1948, in New Delhi.
He is known for his ideology of resistance through nonviolent civil disobedience and for his struggle for India’s independence from British rule.
His principles also inspired civil rights movements around the world.
