ECOPETROL BODs names Camil as interim CEO

BOGOTÁ, COLOMBIA (By Ana Sanches, Editores Latin Petroleum, 15.Sep.2026, Words: 150) — ECOPETROL’s board of directors (BODs) appointed Alfonso Camilo Barco Muñoz as acting CEO, effective 15 Sep. 2026. 

The decision was announced at a ECOPETROL meeting held on 14 Sep. 2026.

Barco Muñoz also serves as an alternate legal representative of ECOPETROL and currently holds the position of corporate vice president of finance and sustainable value, the state-owned company said on 15 Sep. 2026 in an official statement. 

Background

Barco Muñoz has over 35 years of senior executive experience in both the public and private sectors.

He brings extensive expertise in investment banking, corporate finance, and corporate governance, with a particular focus on the energy, oil and gas, infrastructure, and financial services sectors, according to ECOPETROL.
