Eni and Petronas Combination to Create new Southeast Asian Energy ‘Major’

HOUSTON, TEXAS (Editors at Energy Analytics Institute, 28.Feb.2025) — Italy’s Eni SpA and Malaysia’s national oil company Petronas announced plans to combine select upstream assets from their Indonesia and Malaysia portfolios to form a new, standalone and self-funded joint venture (JV). 

The JV is expected to have some 3 billion barrels of oil equivalent (boe) in reserves and with a combined equity production target of 500,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d) over the medium-term, according to Wood Mackenzie.
