Petrobras Inks LNG PSA with UK-based Centrica for 0.8 MTPA Starting in 2027

BELIZE CITY, BELIZE (Aaron Simonsky, Energy Analytics Institute, 20.Feb.2025) — Petrobras signed a long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) purchase and sale agreement (PSA) with the British company Centrica to acquire 0.8 million tons per year (MTPA) of LNG over 15 years starting in 2027.

LNG supply will be made from Centrica’s portfolio, including the Sabine Pass and Delfin LNG liquefaction plants, Petrobras announced 20 Feb. 2025 in an official statement.

The agreement is subject to UK-based Centrica taking the final investment decision (FID) for the Delfin LNG project, currently under development by Delfin Midstream.

Petrobras said the PSA represents an important step in the company’s strategy. The agreement reduces exposure to spot prices, increases competitiveness and assures greater security of supply of natural gas to Brazil, according to Petrobras.
