HOUSTON, TEXAS (Editors at Energy Analytics Institute, 18.Feb.2025) — The Citgo brand is extending to 5 new geographic markets with the launch of a brand licensing program for qualified marketers and retailers.
The launch will initially target Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada and Utah, Citgo said 18 Feb. 2025 in an official statement. The Houston-based refinery is also evaluating additional states for launch this year.
“The licensing program is designed to drive business growth for licensees outside our current territories,” Citgo general manager light oil sales Greg Caponegro said in the statement.
“By offering our brand and marketing support to retailers who source their own fuel, we can expand our presence and provide more consumers with the quality and service they expect from Citgo,” Caponegro said.
Citgo owns and operates 3 highly sophisticated refineries located in Lake Charles, La. (463,000 barrels per day [b/d]), Lemont, Ill., (177,000 b/d) and Corpus Christi, Texas (167,000 b/d). Also, Citgo branded marketers sell motor fuels through more than 4,000 independently owned, branded retail outlets, all located east of the Rocky Mountains.
The brand licensing program capitalizes on newly reformed TriCLEAN, Citgo’s most advanced additive system with TOP TIER designation and 50% more cleaning agents, while enabling participants to outsource their supply of gasoline.
