(Reuters, 31.Aug.2021) — Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro said in an event in the state of Minas Gerais that he has discussed the reason for high fuel prices with the CEO of state-controlled oil company Petroleo Brasileiro SA.
Bolsonaro said Petrobras debt to acquire refineries abroad is ‘almost paid’ and the debt is part of the reason for high fuel prices. The president also called supporters to demonstrations on September 7, Brazil’s holiday marking the country’s independence.
