(Energy Analytics Institute, 19.Mar.2021) — India’s government has big ambitions for renewable energies, as 55% of its electricity is generated by burning fossil fuels.

The Asian country aims to generate 450 gigawatts (GW) from renewable energy sources by 2030. The country’s solar sector is booming and expected to account for 100 GW alone by 2022, French major Total announced 19 March 2021 in an official statement released over one of its social media channels.

India, with a population of nearly 1.4 billion, is one of the most populous countries in the world, and the third-largest energy consumer. India continues with activities to overhaul its energy sector to address huge electricity needs and daunting issues related to climate challenges.
