Tullow’s GVN Suriname Well Had “Minor Shows”

(Energy Analytics Institute, 18.Mar.2021) — Tullow Oil plc revealed the Goliathberg-Voltzberg North exploration well drilled in Suriname’s offshore Block 47 reached its total depth encountering “good quality reservoir but only minor oil shows.”

Tullow said on 18 March 2021 in an official statement the Stena Forth drillship drilled the well to a total depth of 5,060 meters in 1,856 meters of water.

The Goliathberg-Voltzberg North well will be plugged and abandoned and Tullow and partners will assess data gathered from the well in order to consider next steps, Tullow said.

Tullow is the operator of Block 47 with a 50% interest. Other partners in the block include Petroandina Resources Corporation N.V. (Pluspetrol) with a 30% interest and Ratio Suriname Limited with the remaining 20% interest.
