Petrobras Inks New Supply Deal With Braskem

(Petrobras, 22.Dec.2020) — Petrobras signed new long-term contracts with Braskem S.A. to supply petrochemical naphtha to the industrial unit in the state of São Paulo and to supply ethane and propane to the industrial unit in the state of Rio de Janeiro. 

The naphtha contract, in the estimated amount of R$19bn, will come into force on 23 December 2020, after the termination of the current contract, and will remain in effect until December 31, 2025. The amount is up to 2 million tons per year. The ethane and propane contract, in the estimated amount of R$7.6bn, will take effect on 1 January 2021, after the termination of the current contract, and will remain in effect until 31 December 2025. The contractual quantities of ethane and propane, when added together, are equivalent to the production, by Braskem, of 580,000 tons per year of ethylene.
