(Energy Analytics Institute, Aaron Simonsky, 2.Oct.2019) — Brazil’s National Petroleum Agency (ANP) plans to conduct two bid rounds in 2020 to offer areas containing billions of barrels of oil and create opportunities for all types of exploration and production companies.
Since 1999, the ANP has hosted 15 bidding rounds for exploratory blocks, four for mature fields under concession, and five for pre-salt fields under production sharing contracts (PSCs).
More than 100 companies including domestic and foreign companies of different sizes have participated in the rounds over the years.
Most of Brazil’s production today comes from blocks bid in prior rounds.
The ANP anticipates holding two additional bid rounds in 2021.
