Petrobras Updates On FPSO Rio de Janeiro Leak

(Petrobras, 26.Aug.2019) — Petrobras, following the press release disclosed today, informs that the company Modec has reported that a new overflight has found oil on the sea, with an estimated volume of 6.6 cubic meters, in addition to the 1.2 cubic meter leakage identified and now collected. 

Seven collection and dispersion vessels are already operating on site, plus four support vessels and one helicopter for overflying. Modec also reported an increase in the size of cracks since the event onset, but the vessel remains in stable position and in safe conditions under continued monitoring by Modec and Petrobras.

The FPSO Cidade do Rio de Janeiro, operated by Modec, has been out of service since last year and is being retired from the Espadarte field lease, 130 kilometers from the coast.
