Two control points were installed to halt the leak, Ecopetrol executive Mauricio Téllez announced in a Twitter post.

Colombia Needs To Advance Existing, New Gas Exploration Projects

(Energy Analytics Institute, Piero Stewart, 26.May.2019) — Colombia has enough natural gas to supply current demand either with local production or imports, Naturgas Communications Manager Alejandro Riveros told Energy Analytics Institute.

“Recent gas reserves figures revealed by the minister [María Fernanda Suárez] mean the country has to advance with existing and new gas exploration projects,” Riveros said.

The executive reiterated that Colombia already imports gas through the SPEC’s Caribbean regasification plant used to support operations in the northern regions of Colombia.

Ecopetrol Said Ready To Open Data Room For Kronos And Gorgon Projects

(Energy Analytics Institute, Piero Stewart, 21.May.2019) — Colombia’s state oil company Ecopetrol is said ready to open a data room to seek partners to drill new wells and delimit areas to evaluate the potential of the Kronos and Gorgon projects offshore the Colombian Caribbean coast, reports online media Valora Analitik on 21 May 2019, citing Ecopetrol President Felipe Bayón.

Both projects have high gas potential, but are long-term initiatives, Bayón said.
