Bolivian natural gas production and exports in free-fall

BOGOTÁ, COLOMBIA (By Ana Sanches, Energy Analytics Institute, 8.Jul.2026, Words: 198) — Bolivia’s natural gas exports have fallen in recent years from sales exceeding around $6bn to sales in 2025 that barely surpassed $1.1bn.

This, amid production that is in a free-fall, according to El Diario, which is due to the lack of incentives for international oil companies (IOCs) to invest in Bolivia and expand exploration, as they do in Argentina’s prolific Vaca Muerta shale formation.
