PANAMA CITY, PANAMA (Piero Stewart, Energy Analytics Institute, 11.Apr.2025) — Colombia’s state-owned Ecopetrol and its Brazilian counterpart Petrobras spud the Buena Suerte-1 well offshore Colombia.
The Buena Suerte-1 is targeting an objective located at around 3,700m. The well, spud on 4 Apr. 2025, will test the existence of an active natural gas system in a non-proved play.
The Buena Suerte-1 well is very close to the 2 Sirius wells. The Sirius-2 well revealed gas volumes in excess of 6 trillion cubic feet (Tcf), Ecopetrol revealed on 11 Apr. 2025 in a post on social media.
