Venture Global to Achieve COD at Calcasieu Pass on 15 Apr. 2025

HOUSTON, TEXAS (Editors at Energy Analytics Institute, 17.Feb.2025) — Venture Global has notified its long-term customers that its Calcasieu Pass facility will commence commercial operations on 15 Apr. 2025.

The facility will achieve its commercial operation date, or COD, in under 68 months from its Aug. 2019 final investment decision (FID), Venture Global said on 17 Feb. 2025 in an official statement. As a result, Calcasieu Pass ranks amongst the fastest greenfield liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects completed, the company said.

This, “despite substantial impacts including 2 hurricanes, the COVID-19 pandemic, and major unforeseen manufacturing issues, such as with the Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs) forming part of the facility’s power island,” Global Venture said.

Venture Global’s initial facility, Calcasieu Pass, commenced LNG production in Jan. 2022, while the company’s second facility, Plaquemines LNG, achieved first LNG production in Dec. 2024.

Venture Global is currently constructing and developing over 100 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of nameplate production capacity to provide clean, affordable energy to the world. The company is also developing carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) projects at each of its LNG facilities.
