(Energy Analytics Institute, 7.Oct.2020) — Ecuador is suing CNO SA, formerly known as Construtura Norberto Odebrecht SA, for $281mn for breach of the construction contract for the pipeline Pascuales Cuenca Poliducto (PPC).

The Guayas Provincial Court of Justice, EP PetroEcuador, through its General Manager Ricardo Merino, and the State Attorney General Íñigo Salvador, filed the claim against the Brazilian construction giant, PetroEcuador announced 7 October 2020 in an official statement.

A technical, legal and expert team endorsed by the Council of the Judiciary carried out a meticulous and detailed assessment of all damages caused by CNO SA in the construction of the PPC infrastructure.

Ecuador claims CNO SA did not deliver work in accordance with the conditions established in the construction contract or in the agreed time.

“Petroecuador will remain vigilant in this judicial process that seeks to compensate the damages caused by the Brazilian construction company,” PetroEcuador said in the statement.
