Wintershall Dea Spuds Bergknapp Discovery Well

Immediate Frontier

(Energy Analytics Institute, 13.Jul.2023) — Wintershall Dea spud an appraisal well at the Bergknapp discovery in the Norwegian Sea.

With estimated resources of between 38 MMboe and 72 MMboe in the Garn and Tilje formations, the discovery is one of the biggest in Norway this decade.

“The appraisal will test if it could be our next field,” Wintershall Dea said 13 July 2023 in a post on LinkedIn.

The Bergknapp discovery lies close to assets already owned by Wintershall Dea, which allows the potential for efficient development.

“This is the latest in a series of key wells being drilled from the Transocean Norge in the coming years,” said Nils Petter Norheim, Wintershall Dea Norge Head of Drilling and Wells. “The most important thing is that we continue to deliver these wells with the highest standard of HSEQ.”
