Argentina’s Energy Secretariat Meets With Governors, Companies

(Energy Analytics Institute, Aaron Simonsky, 20.Aug.2019) — Argentina’s Energy Secretariat Gustavo Lopetegui held a meeting in provinces with governors and oil company executives to discuss recently announced freezes to oil and fuel prices.

This was the first such discussion in which the Argentine government sought to establish joint dialogue with all the actors with aim to start normalizing or calming the sector after publication of decree 566/19. All participants agreed to hold a new meeting next week, the Energy Secretariat said 20 August in an official statement.

The meeting was attended by the following government participants: Chubut Governor Mariano Arcioni; Neuquén Governor Omar Gutiérrez; Río Negro Governor Alberto Weretilneck; Santa Cruz Deputy Governor Pablo González; Mendoza’s Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Martín Kerchner; and Mendoza’s Minister of Finance María Paula Allasino.

Additionally, the meeting was attended by representatives from the following companies: YPF, Shell, PAE, Tecpetrol, Pluspetrol, Chevron, Exxon Mobil, Equinor, CGC, CAPSA-CAPEX SA, Vista Oil, Raizen, Enap, Trafigura, Total, CEPH, Pampa Energía, Wintershall Dea, Refinor, Petronas, Roch SA and Sinopec.
