Peru And Chile Committed To Electrical Interconnection

(Energy Analytics Institute, Ian Silverman, 27.Nov.2018) — Peru and Chile have committed to moving towards an electrical interconnection between both countries via Arica-Tacna.

“A study is being carried out related to the economic benefits of this interconnection,” Chile’s Energy Minister Susana JimĂ©nez explained in an official statement published on the ministry’s website.

Additionally, both countries – through their respective technical teams – are working on a regulatory agreement that would visualize the electricity exchanges, she added.

“These commitments were approved in a Bi-national Cabinet, and will take place in 2019,” concluded JimĂ©nez.
