(Energy Analytics Institute, Piero Stewart, 11.Mar.2020) — EP PetroEcuador General Manager Pablo Flores supervised operations at the Esmeraldas Maritime Port and the Balao Maritime Terminal, which are part of the Trans-Ecuadorian Pipeline System (SOTE), and where the company carries out crude oil export activities essential for Ecuador’s economy.

During the technical visit to the Esmeraldas Maritime Terminal, located in the province of Esmeraldas, from which offshore operations are coordinated with the ships that transport Ecuadorian crude, such as the ‘Aqualeader’, the executive supervised operations related to monobuoys X and Y, export of Oriente crude, oil loadings at the La Libertad Refinery and the export of Fuel Oil No. 6, PetroEcuador announced 11 March 2020 in an official statement.

In this regard, the executive stated the following: “From Balao we export 210,000 barrels per day of oil. These operations are fundamental for the country.”

The SOTE transports 360,000 barrels per day of oil from fields in the Ecuadorian Amazon to the province of Esmeraldas and then to the Balao Terminal, Flores said in the statement.
