US Warns Maduro of Sanctions Snap Back

Immediate Frontier

(Energy Analytics Institute, 30.Jan.2024) — US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said there’s still time for the Nicolás Maduro regime in Venezuela to change course but said that if they didn’t that Washington was prepared “to allow General License #44 expire and “our sanctions will snap back into place.”

“There is still time for them to allow a free and fair election,” Miller said 30 Jan. 2024 during a briefing from the US State Department. “We are hopeful that that’s what they’ll do. But if they don’t, we are prepared to implement our sanctions.”
