(Energy Analytics Institute, 7.Sep.2020) — The Quito Electric Company (EEQ by its Spanish acronym) announced initial operations on 7 September 2020 at the Northwest Operation Center and Los Bancos Agency to the benefit of more than 50,000 users in towns such as Nanegalito, Nono, Nanegal, Pacto, Gualea and Pedro Vicente Maldonado.

The national government, through the Ministry of Energy and Non-Renewable Natural Resources (MENRNR) and EEQ invested around $3.8mn in infrastructure related to the project as part of a maintenance and network repair plan, the ministry announced 7 September in an official statement.

Due to its strategic location, the new center will allow technicians to travel quickly to neighboring towns of the Pichincha province and thus promptly address incidents related to electrical service.
