— Irene Vélez Torres will serve as Colombia’s new Minister of Mines and Energy under the country’s new President Gustavo Petro who assumed the office on 7 Aug. 2022. Torres replaces outgoing minister Diego Mesa who served under Colombia’s former president Ivan Duque.
