Ecopetrol’s Gas Vice Presidency was renamed the Low Emission Solutions Vice Presidency, to consolidate the gas, biogas, LPG, energy, renewables, hydrogen and CCUS (Carbon Capture, Use and Storage) areas under one vice presidency, the co. announced 5 Aug. 2022 in an official stmt.

— In Jul. 2022 the Gorgon-2 and Uchuva-1 exploration wells offshore the Colombian Caribbean finished drilling. The Gorgón-2 well, operated by Shell (50% interest) in partnership w/ Ecopetrol (50% interest), is under evaluation, the state oil co. said 5 Aug. 2022 in the official stmt. The Uchuva-1 well found natural gas in deep waters in Colombia, 32km from the coast and 76km from the city of Santa Marta, w/ a water column of approximately 864 meters. This well is operated by Petrobras and Ecopetrol has a 55.6% interest.

Trinidad and Tobago

The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (NGC) and NewGen Energy Limited deepened their partnership to cooperate on the enabling of a sustainable hydrogen economy in the twin-island Caribbean country. On 4 Aug. 2022, the cos. inked a non-binding Heads of Agreement (HOA) that outlines the framework for establishment of Binding Definitive Agreements between the relevant parties, once acceptable terms can be reached.
