(Energy Analytics Institute, 18.Mar.2021) — Mexican officials announced discovery of a new giant oil field called Dzimpona-1 in the state of Tabasco. Reserves at the field are estimated between 500 and 600 million barrels of crude oil equivalent (MMboe)
The Dzimpona-1 is located near Valeriana and Racemosa, which together hold between 900 and 1,200 (MMboe), Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX) General Director Octavio Romero Oropeza said 18 March 2021 in a statement released by state oil company.
Other deposits are being explored including Popté, Tiribish, as well as the possible extension of the Dzimpona field itself, which, if successful, would significantly increase the potential in this area, Romero Oropeza said.
