(Energy Analytics Institute, Ian Silverman, 12.Sep.2013) – Guatemala announced its initial gas discovery at the Ocultun well in the Peten region.

The well was drilled to nearly 3 km, reported the daily newspaper La Razon. The discovery could cover 30% of the daily demand for propane for the country.

“It is estimated production could reach 2 MMcf/d,” Guatemala’s Ministry of Energy and Mining said in a press release. “The gas will be destined for industrial and domestic usage and/or to generate electricity.”
