(Energy Analytics Institute, Aaron Simonsky, 19.Nov.2018) — Bolivia’s Hydrocarbon Minister Luis Alberto Sánchez and Paraguay’s Public Works Minister Arnoldo Wiens signed a Memorandum of Understanding related to construction of a natural gas pipeline that will allow for shipment of the molecules from the former to the latter.
We hope to come to an agreement and build a pipeline that will span from Bolivia to Paraguay, reported online media La Razón, citing Bolivia’s President Evo Morales. “Talks are very advanced and we have spoken with the outgoing and incoming presidents about the project,” said Morales.
Bolivia currently exports liquefied petroleum gas or LPG to Paraguay and supplies a large part of the small South America country’s demand for the fuel. Bolivia also exports smaller volumes of LPG to Argentina, Uruguay and Peru.
Additionally, both countries are seeking to finalize an agreement related to a future partnership between state companies Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB) and Petróleos Paraguayos (Petropar) related to the commercialization of LPG.
