Argentina Reports Rise In Petroleum, Gas Output

(Energy Analytics Institute, Aaron Simonsky, 28.Nov. 2018) — Argentina reported total petroleum production of 498 thousand barrels per day (Mb/d) in October 2018, up 1.8% year-over-year compared to 489 Mb/d in October 2017.

Unconventional petroleum production (shale + tight) rose 15% in October 2018 compared to October 2017, the country’s Energy Secretariat announced in an official statement on its website.

In particular, shale oil production in October 2018 was 66 Mb/d, up 70% year-over-year compared in October 2017, and up 3% sequentially compared to September 2018.

Natural Gas

Natural gas production was 132 million cubic meters per day (MMcm/d) in October 2018, up 7% year-over-year compared to 124 MMcm/d in October 2017, and up 1.2% sequentially compared to September 2018.

In particular, unconventional gas (shale + tight) rose 38% in October 2018 compared to October 2017.

Of note, shale gas production was 25 MMcm/d in October 2018, up 243% year-over-year compared to October 2017, and up 11% sequentially compared to September 2018.
