Petrobras-Lead Consortium Kicks Off Output At P-67 Platform

Pitts, 1.Feb.2019) — Brazil’s state oil company Petrobras and consortium partners including subsidiaries of Royal Dutch Shell plc and Galp Energia commenced production of natural gas and crude oil from the P-67 FPSO located offshore Brazil in the Lula Norte area.

The FPSO, situated approximately 260 km off the coast of Rio de Janeiro state, has production capacity of 6 million cubic meters per day of gas and 150,000 barrels per day of oil through nine production wells, in addition to being interconnected to its injection wells, announced Petrobras and Shell in official statements.

Consortium partners initiated production in the block at the Lula Extreme South with the P-69 FPSO in October 2018. The P-67 is the ninth unit established now in the BM-S-11 block.

The Lula field, comprised of the Lula and Cernambi reservoirs, is Brazil’s largest producer, and was discovered in 2006 and is now the largest producing field in Brazil, accounting for 30 percent of the country’s oil and gas production.

Petrobras projects production from the field will reach 1 million barrels per day in 2019, some nine years after commencing commercial production in October 2010.

Lula field is located in concession BM-S-11 is operated by Petrobras, which holds a 65 percent stake in the project. Other partners in the concession include Shell Brasil Petróleo Ltda. with a 25 percent stake and Galp, through its Petrogal Brasil subsidiary, which holds a 10 percent stake.
