(Energy Analytics Institute, Ian Silverman, 4.Jan.2019) — Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB) aims to boost production and commercialization of urea in Northeast Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Peru in 2019, announced YPFB President Óscar Barriga in an official company statement.

Bolivia has consolidated its position as an urea exporter and is working to diversify its client base, said Barriga. “The urea produced by YPFB in its Bulo Bulo plant, once placed on the market, is on average 20% cheaper than urea imported from other sources, as is the case of urea imported by Peru,” he added.

Production of urea is around 580,000 tons, amounts destined first to satisfy demand of agricultural producers in Bolivia, and soon for export, the company announced in the statement.
