Petroecuador Inks Deal With Amerisur Colombia

(Energy Analytics Institute, Piero Stewart, 19.Dec.2018) — Ecuador’s state oil company Petroecuador and Amerisur Exploración Colombia Limitada signed a contract for the transport of Colombia crude through the SOTE, from Lago Agrio to the Balao Maritime Terminal.

The minimum capacity assigned to Amerisur and to be transported is 5,000 barrels per day (b/d) of a crude oil of a minimum 25-degree API, the Ecuadorian company announced in an official statement.

Ecuador’s initial refinery was built at Esmeralda on the country’s Pacific coast, and the trans-Ecuador oil pipeline system (Sistema Oleducto Trans-Ecuatoriano, also known as SOTE) was build and spans from Lago Agrio and the Balao oil terminal to transport high-value light crude oil (of 29-degree to 30-degree API) a distance of 503km (310 miles) from the oilfields of the East, according to Hydrocarbons Technology.

The tariff the contracting company will pay is set by the Hydrocarbons Regulation and Control Agency (ARCH), in application to Article 62 of the Hydrocarbons Law, added Petroecuador.
