Argentina Authorizes Additional Gas Exports To Chile

(Energy Analytics Institute, Aaron Simonsky, 3.Dec.2018) — Subsidiaries of US-based ExxonMobil and Germany-based Wintershall in Argentina were authorized to export conventional natural gas to Chile.

Details of the deals were revealed in two resolutions (bulletins 164/2018and 159/2018) and published in Argentina’s Official Gazette, announced Argentina’s Treasury in a statement on its website.

In the first instance, Exxonmobil Exploration Argentina has been authorized to export up to 400,000 cubic meters per day or a maximum of 84,800,000 cubic meters of gas to Chile’s Innergy Soluciones Energéticas S.A. Gas for export will be sourced from the following areas in Argentina’s Neuquén Basin: Bajo del Choique, La Invernada, Los Toldos I Sur and Pampa de las Yeguas.

In the second instance, Wintershall Energía, S.A. has been authorized to export up to 750,000 cubic meters per day or a maximum of 159,000,000 cubic meters of gas to Chile’s Colbún, S.A. Gas for export will be sourced from the following areas in Argentina’s Neuquén Basin: San Roque and Aguada PichanaEste.

Exports in both instances are interruptible and for a short-term period that spans from October 1, 2018 until May 1, 2019, according to details in both resolutions.
